I know this because I grew up loving my family stories, and as I got older and had children of my own, I realized how important it is to capture and preserve those stories. For loved ones to be truly seen. For families to cherish those stories together. For future generations to always know where they came from.
My brothers and I tried everything: life story journals, online prompt services. They all ended up either blank or with dry answers that didn't do justice to the rich, beautiful stories our loved ones actually had. And as I talked to other families and looked into it further, I realized this is a common problem.
